On Repeat

On Repeat is a music discovery podcast hosted by Dave Cool (yes, that’s his real name). When Dave finds a song he really likes, he becomes addicted to it and literally puts it on repeat. And that’s the music you’ll hear on the podcast. Each episode features a carefully curated playlist of songs, as well as an in-depth interview with one of the artists.

#2 • The Unsettlers

January 6, 2013

This month’s episode features music by Bad Uncle, United Steel Workers of Montreal, The Jimmyriggers, and The Unsettlers.

In the feature interview, Dave ventured out to Grumpy’s Bar to chat with B.W. Brandes, one of the lead singers of The Unsettlers.

This eleven-piece Folk-Noir/Cabaret band is beloved in the Montreal music scene, but fans might have a pizza delivery guy from Windsor and a thieving Vancouver cab driver to thank for the band’s very existence…

#1 • Irreverend James

December 1, 2012

The debut episode of “On Repeat” features an unreleased version of a song by Mark Berube, as well as music from David Martel, The Unsettlers, and Irreverend James and the Critical Mass Choir.

In the feature interview, Dave sits down with the lead singer of Irreverend James for an incredibly candid discussion. They talk about the band’s meteoric rise in Montreal, the highs and lows during Dave’s time as their manager, and his eventual departure from the project. The interview is a rare glimpse into the inner workings of a band/manager dynamic, offering many lessons for both musicians and managers alike.
